God bless all who join him in his own major work of salvation. he created each of us with an individual personality for his own purposes. It is noticeable that he blessed the go-ahead man or woman, the resourceful the enterprising, the people of zest. He looks for people to give themselves as they are and he will make them what he wants them to be, whether they are super-intelligent or simple.

Jesus said “follow me!” When we tell people to follow Jesus, we usually mean spiritually. For his diciples it meant real walking. Jesus led them here, there and everywhere to meet the unwanted and unwashed, to befriend the poor and the rich, and to care about the riff-raff or rulers.

To follow Jesus spiritually will sooner or later mean actually. Jesus did not obey the Father in a “religious” way only. It meant putting his feet on the road. We will go where he would like to go, meet who he would like to meet. The sinless man identified with sinners and bore their reproach. He calls us to leave the Christian ghetto and to share the concerns of real people. That is how believers become real themselves, not cardboard cut-out Christians. If we truly follow him, we become like him. If we know him well, stick close to him, his accent and his ways will brush off on us and, without even knowing it. Anybody can be the real thing, including you.
